Newborn Session Details

All of my newborns are photographed in the first 10 days of life.  Photographing them this early will ensure we get the very best out f your images and achieve the results that are displayed in my portfolio.  Getting photos early is essential to assuring that we get all those great sleepy, curled up shots of your little one.  At this age babies are not easily disturbed while they sleep.  Also, during these first days a newborn’s skin is generally clear of blemishes.  After the baby gets a little older they have longer wakeful periods and are disturbed much more easily, making it more difficult to capture the images desired.

I prefer to photograph newborns in wraps, swaddles, your arms or of course, their birthday suit! Try to avoid over dressing your little one since it tends to look very awkward and uncomfortable, not good for photos. Also, feel free to set aside any special items, such as stuffed animals or blankets, to include in the photos.

I will always take my time with babies, never rushing a session.  Newborn sessions typically take 3-4 hours so we can move at your baby’s pace.  This will leave plenty of time for feeding, changing and snuggling your baby between shots.

I do ask that when you arrive for your session your baby be well fed and dressed in loose fitting, easy to remove clothing. We want to try and avoid having a hungry, uncomfortable baby. Remember, all babies are different, which greatly lends itself to beautifully unique images of your brand new little one.

If you think you might be interested in a newborn session please contact me while you are still pregnant so I can pencil in your due date.
